Internet Service Providers
These days most of the households have a computer and computers are not worthwhile without an internet connection. For an internet connection we have to contact an Internet Service Provider who will provide you an internet connection for a fee. So the Internet Service Provider is a company that provides access to the internet for their customers. They are generally called an ISP and they can provide various kinds of connection like Broadband, Wireless or DSL according to the needs of the customer.
There are several packages with them which are according to their customers needs. Some have high speed and some have greater download capacity. An ISP can also provide an email account to its customer so that they can send and receive emails throughout the world.
When you apply for an Internet connection then the people from the service provider will come to your house and fix a modem at your place by which you can receive internet signals for your computer. Generally Dialup modems are slower than the Broadband modem. The Dialup modem works via telephone line and is thus slower. Previously with this kind of modem you cannot use the telephone and the internet together. When the phone is in use you cannot use the internet and vice versa. DSL modems are faster than the Dialup ones but it’s an age of Broadband now, where people want speed and increased download capacity. Cable modems are even faster than the Broadband modems. People using laptops also prefer to use wireless internet though it’s not that reliable as the broadband.
